Résumé ReflectionTeaching for Marshall County Schools for the past thirty two plus years has been a very rewarding experience. During this time I have had many good times and a few "not so good" times. If I could start over, I would not change a thing. I have had the pleasure of working with some of the best and most professional teachers in the field of education. I have also worked with outstanding students in Marshall County throughout the years.
I was fortunate to have a job waiting for me when I graduated from college. I have never had to search for any other job since my graduation from college. This has given a great deal of stability to my life. While in undergraduate school, I met Alice who became my wife upon graduation. We now have three children all of whom are either in college or have graduated from college.
The only regret that I can think of is that I was unable to pursue my masters degree until the last six years. With the children grown, Alice was able to become a teacher as well and that allowed me to take the summers off instead of having to work. The best opportunity to obtain a masters degree came as a result of my being involved in the Health Sciences and Technology Academy (HSTA). Working in HSTA has been a great experience as well as providing the means to obtain my masters.
I have had the opportunity to coach basketball at the junior high level for the past twelve years. I have coached eighth grade boys teams for twelve years and ninth grade girls teams for two of the twelve years. Most of those teams have been a pleasure to coach.
I believe that the development of technology in general and in education specifically has helped me to maintain a youthful attitude in my teaching in recent years. I try to pursue all available avenues that will allow me to introduce technology into my curriculum and my classroom. One such avenue is the software Dreamweaver, provided by a grant through HSTA, which I am using to prepare this portfolio.
