Have students read theories about how mitochondria (Mt) became embedded in the modern Eukaryotic cell. Ask students how this placement of Mt enhances cells? How and why might this have been naturally selected for?
Have students conduct Inquiry to Natural Selection investigation.
Embedded Assessment: Have students compare the survival of cells with mitochondria to flies establishing resistance to DDT.
