Entering Data in Excel |
(Required to separate top number from bottom number)
(To analyze, Excel needs data in numbers only)
Entering Blood Pressure data : It is necessary to separate top number from bottom number.
(Top number is called Systolic. Bottom number is called Diastolic)
If you enter new data:
1. Allow 4 columns for Blood Pressure data.
2. Name the 1st column Init Syst BP (Initial systolic blood pressure number)
3. Name the 2nd column Init Diast BP (Initial diastolic blood pressure number) 4. Name the 3rd column Fin Syst BP (Final systolic blood pressure number) 5. Name the 4thcolumn Fin Diast BP (Final diastolic blood pressure number)
If you copy/paste blood pressure data (160/80):
When the blood pressure is in 1 column, it is necessary to insert a new column.
a) insert a new column to the right of the blood pressure column.
b) move cursor to the top of the column (place cursor over letter and small black arrow appears) and click to highlight..
c) Click on “Data” in top tool bar.
d) Click on “Text to Column”.
e) Click on “Delimited”.
f) Click on “Next”.
g) Set the delimiter (in the case of BP, choose “/”).
h) Click on “Next”.
i) If the data appears in 2 columns in the view box, then Click on “Finish”. Your data should have moved to 2 columns.
j) Place new labels your previous and new columns.
Entering Yes/No/Not sure data : It is necessary to change the words to numbers.Whether you enter in new data or change words to numbers, create a code:
Example Allow Yes = 1
Allow No = 0 . Allow Not sure = -1
