For Students: In order of when to implement

Schedule of 4 Sessions (3 hours each) - conducted during a week in Summer 2004

Being-Feeling Different - an icebreaker to help persons talk about themsleves and open up

Ground Rules - establish guidelines for talking about sensitive issues

Cultural Bag - get participants thinking about who they are as individuals

Iceburg - get participants thinking about aspects of culture

Stereotypes - simulates how sterotypes hold us back from gaining awareness

Journal - for student reflection

Define Multicultural - establish a broad image of multicultural

Brief Encounters - points out the importance of communication skills

Privilege Line-Up - highlights privilege and hidden power structures in US society

Nature of Science - helps to point out how science is influenced by culture

Create an Invention - helps participants see how technology affects cultures

Create a Concept Map - utilizes a great computer software program

Food Extravaganza - fun way to finish a session by dancing and feeding each other

Anti-Racist Perspective - to define and distinguish prejudice, racism, hegemony

Stereotype Vulnerability - areading to understand how easy it is to invoke intimidation, which lessens "intelligence".

Personal Voices - a reading of an example of white male privilege

Blueprint for Multicultural Understanding - a powerpoint of terms and concepts, includes Cultural Transformation by Banks

Ruby Payne - strategies to enhance for science/math teaching

Walking in My Shoes - enhances teacher empathy for underrepresented student populations.
