Gathering Data

Lifestyles Project entails gathering data on humans, such as height, weight, self-reported diet and weekly exercise. In addition, the study is carefully designed to measure fitness levels through a uniform exercise regime. Since this data is sensitive to the persons who agree to be measured, it is crucial that the student investigators understand that how to keep data confidential and how they can protect all participants who agree to be in this study.

1. Before students can begin gathering data, they must complete the Ethics and HIPAA Training.

2. Next, get permission from your principal and find a medical expert to mentor you and measure blood pressure.

3. Then obtain the approved survey on Diet and Daily Exercise (contact jbardwell@hsc.wvu.edu).
