Through the Health Sciences & Technology Academy high school students are asking what the basic indicators are to measure good health. The Lifestyles Project is an attempt to answer the students' questions. Students are gathering data on height, weight, self-reported diet and weekly exercise, In addition, the study has been carefully designed to measure fitness levels through a uniform exercise regime. Medical experts are mentoring the students on how to conduct this research in scientific and ethical ways. This study has been expanded to 3 high schools in Mali, West Africa. All the data is pooled and a meta-analysis is conducted to make conclusions about current lifestyles across West Virginia compared with Mali.
