Meet the
Team
|
Marty Burke - science teacher
John Lewis - science teacher
The muscle tissue study team demonstrated different types
of muscle tissues:
Skeletal Muscle, Cardiac
Muscle, Smooth Muscle.

This model demonstrates the structure
of a skeletal muscle, the biceps (meaning two
parts).
|
|

|
The students constructed a model of how
skeletal muscle moves the skeleton during
contraction.

The students constructed a model of how
skeletal muscle moves the skeleton during
contraction.
The diagram illustrates skeletal muscles on the
posterior aspect of the thigh, biceps femoris,
semimembranosous, and semitendinosis.

Cardiac
Muscle

|
|
Cardiac muscle is found only in the
walls of the heart. The students used this heart
model to discuss circulation of blood through
the heart.

Smooth
Muscle

|
|
The students made a model of the stomach as the
wall contains smooth muscle. The microscopic
anatomy of smooth muscle differs from skeletal
muscle as slower contraction is needed in the gut
wall.
