About This Course
Content Emphasis. CI 692J focuses on the impact of the built environment on public health. The
specific emphasis is on how “sprawl” development impacts air and water quality, physical activity
opportunities/levels and related chronic disease, traffic injuries, the human “ecological foot print,” and so
on. Smart Growth alternatives are explored, including the role of schools.
