Criteria for Participation in
HSTA

Policy
passed by the Joint Governing Board August 19,
1996
- Teachers
must have a minimum of 24 documented hours of student
contact per semester.
- Teachers
will either attend or send a written report to each Local
Governing Board Meeting. The teachers should report HSTA
student activities, to include: (1) inquiry based
science; and (2) experiences/exposure in rural
health.
- A
HSTA club represents a ratio of 10 students to 1 teacher.
A maximum of 15 students is acceptable with prior
approval from the HSTA teacher and Local Governing
Board.
- All HSTA teachers are required to attend
two weeks of summer institute, the annual HSTA science symposium,
and the fall workshop. Reason for absence must be presented in writing
to the LGB for approval. Attendance is required for payment of full
stipend in accordance with the teacher agreement.
