Support: Local Governing Board
 








The Local Governing Board (LGB) is made up of at least, a community member, a local school member, a health professional, a parent, a HSTA student, a WVRHEP site coordinator, and a WVRHEP representative. The LGB is responsible for all decisions involving the HSTA clubs in that region.

The main functions of the local governing board include but are not limited to:

  • Hiring and evaluating local HSTA employees
  • Recruiting teachers and students (according to policy criteria) for the program
  • Coordinating with Joint Governing Board (JGB) on budgetary and financial matters
  • Insuring that JGB finance policies and procedures are carried out
  • Advising the staff and faculty on curricular matters and equipment resources
  • Ensuring that students gain educational rural health experiences
  • Cooperating with school systems and communities to secure resources for students
  • Pre-approving all material/supply purchases and field trips
  • Executing student probation/expulsion/appeals
