Activity 5: Safe in the Sun

Purpose:

Using data from the Potato skin Experiment, students can discuss how skin protects humans from UV radiation.

Then students examine the Sunsor UV exposure scale to determine optimal range of UV exposure for their skin type.

Materials:

UV-B meter, UV exposure guides (both these are not necessary, since web sites can provide the needed information.

Time Frame:

50 Minutes
