Activity 10: Molecular Basis of Cancer

Purpose:

Students will build models of the cell surface, and become acquainted with the role of cell surface receptors, antigens, and how cancer alters normal cell functioning.

Materials:

2 plastic foam balls, 20 assorted colored plastic beads (flower shapes, oblong shaped, or round shaped), approx. 10 long straight pins (longer than the longest bead).

Time Frame:

50 minutes
