Procedures for Pre-concept map on the EMS:

The Question:

What is electromagnetic radiation?

Before beginning this activity.

Students should have knowledge of some types of radiation, sources of radiation, and effects of various types of radiation.

Procedure.

Brainstorm with your students on what the EMS means to them. Collect these ideas on the board. Once the students have reached their limit of knowledge on the subject, ask students to create a concept map of their ideas. Using Inspiration Software to create maps is an enjoyable and creative way for students to organize their ideas. Comparing this pre-concept map to a final concept map will be a dramatic way for students to visualize how much they have learned.
