Student Instructions:

1. Graph the data you collected outside with the ball toss activity.

2. Label the horizontal axis with the trial numbers and the vertical axis with distance.

3. Plot the data points for the ball thrown without the tool as "O".

4. Connect these points with a line.

5. Plot the data points for the ball thrown with the tool as "T".

6. Connect these points with a second line.

7. Include title and distance units in the axis label.

*Attach your graph to this paper.

Analysis:

1. What was the average distance the ball traveled when thrown by hand for your group?

2. What was the average distance the ball traveled when thrown with the technological device by your group?

3. Which type of throw made the ball travel the greatest distance?

4. If there is no difference in question 3, how might you explain this?

5. Suggest ways that this technological device might be used for something other than a toy. (Think about other cultures and other time periods in history.)
