Objectives
- To raise awareness of heart diseases and their causes
- To learn the gender, racial, ethnic and geographical
differences of heart disease.
- To research the causes and treatments available for heart
diseases
- To visit a hospital and more specifically a lab where tests
are run to diagnose heart disease.
- To compare EKGs of a healthy heart and a diseased heart.
- To dissect a heart and label the parts of the heart .
- To identify the functions of the parts of the heart.
- To perform a bypass on an artery of the heart.
- To use the information gained in this unit to suggest life
style changes that can reduce the risk of heart disease.
- To create semantic maps that document their learning and also
to plan ways they would like to extend this unit.
- To use technology for research and development of the semantic
maps.
