Lifestyles Project

This year some of our HSTA students are working on the Lifestyles Project. The lifestyles Project is where Mrs. Qazi has students at Riverside ride an exercise bike for 10 minutes. During these minutes the person recording data such as heart rate and blood pressure. The program we use for this is IWORX. After the person is done riding the they compare the data with others to come up with the conclusion.

Some of the equipment we use is as follows: Exercise bike, blood pressure monitors, stethoscope, pulse sensors, and a computer.

Procedure:

1. Have the students weight, resting heart rate, and their blood pressure taken before riding the bike.

2. Attatch sensors for the IWORX Program on their body in the correct locations.

3. Have the person get on the bike and remain still for two minutes while the HSTA Student takes their blood pressure every 30 seconds.

4. Have the student slowly begin to pedal for 2 minutes. With the blood pressure being taken every 30 seconds.

5. Have the person vigourously pedal for 2 minutes. Again with the blood pressure being logged every 30 seconds.

6. Have the person slow down for two minutes. Blood pressure being taken every 30 seconds.

7. Have the person begin completly stop for 2 minutes before getting off of the bike. Again taking the blood pressure for 30 seconds.

8. From the IWORX Program use the equation T1-T2 and compare it with the other peoples data
