Basic web authoring skills using FrontPage 2003 ® comprise the content. Subject matter used for the construction of the web pages is derived from the Biomedical component experiences (including Math) during the entire week. Additionally, content includes the utilization of other technology tools to make web pages: Digital Camera images; Inspiration® 7.0 to make images for web pages; and/or conversion of a PowerPoint presentation into web pages. Content for teachers serving in a web mistress/master role also includes (a) utilizing a digital camera and (b) defining a web site and the utilization of several sets of web pages (individual students’ folders) to make one large coordinated website and presentation.
1 computer per individual containing template of an index page and selected images; 1 floppy disk per student; 1 CD-R/RW or JumpDrive per web master/mistress/teacher; 1 digital camera per teacher; release forms for any adult photographed; two “Creating a web site using FrontPage 2003” handouts per individual.
1. Orient teachers and students to defining and building a robust presentation web site for their “inquiry experience.”
2. Examine the focus of the 8 to 9 small group presentations and choreograph (assign) what each student will contribute (web pages) as part of his/her small group.
3. Provide basic training on web authoring following the “basic web authoring” handout.
4. Construct a small group web site (teachers).
5. Finalize, practice and present each small group website.
Notes: The teacher will be in charge of the digital camera (or assign one group member to do so) during the week. Photographs should not include HSTA students whose parents have not signed a release form. Photographs of any adults need to be accompanied by an Adult release form.
